EPL Opening Week – A Reminiscent Story

Manchester City – How much money and how many stars are needed for a team to win a soccer game? I am sure soccer fans are familiar with the “GALACTICOS” story. What comes first – Star Egos or Team Chemistry? And by-the-way, more starters coming in the shape of Hot Head Balotelli and England Underwhelmer Milner.

Man Utd and Chelsea start fighting for the title yet again. Both Impressive as usual. The question is not about winning I guess, it is about how many goals each team can score.

Arsenal and Liverpool – Title hopes lost. The Gunners are in the process of making new stars out of young lads. A familiar story!? Wait for Arsene to whine in his lovely French accent about the fine art of team building and a long-term-plan. Listen to the wisdom of austerity from the manager of a club whose fans are starved for silverware. At what time do you thank the Creator, and say it’s time to go in a different direction?

When was the last time Liverpool won the EPL? Never. Story continued. Nothing to see here. Move on.

Spurs will struggle to make it to top four this season (Easy with those Top Four tee-shirts now). This season they will have much more competition from Citeh and Pool. Spurs already showing signs of disaster. A draw in their opening game against Citeh and a terrible loss to Young Boys in UEFA Champs League.

Aston Villa. Good start. New management, new horizons?

Just to rile things up : Blackpool better than Liverpool??

Prediction Time: 2010-2011 Rankings.

  1. Manchester United
  2. Manchester City
  3. Chelsea
  4. Arsenal
  5. Spurs
  6. Liverpool
  7. Aston Villa

While we all recover from 3 weekends of blue seas, it is worth a minute or two to remind ourselves, that, pound for pound, these were probably the best 20 odd days in football that one could hope to see. And if these weeks were...
