Frequently & rarely asked questions (we don’t miss any!)
A show named The Big Show? You aren’t very creative with names, are you?
Oh no, it may seem so on the surface. Delve a bit deeper, and you will come to appreciate the logic behind the name. Like all good creations (intended), we have heavily referenced our inspirations: Film Noir and The Dan Patrick Show (do check this list of the top noir movies to get the naming pattern we decided to follow).
We really wished Jon Stewart, Stepehen Colbert, Monty Python, Spike Milligan – everyone would have got a reference. But then instead of The Big Show it would just be the show with a big name.
See? We are not that dumb (or condescending pricks for that matter).
Film Noir and sports? Are they even remotely connected?
No, not exactly (those who have seen Kubrick masterpiece ” The Killing” would disagree). We made the connection. As fans, we tend to classify the sports stars as heroes or villains; but human character is not as simple as moves on a chess square: black or white. Noir explores this complication beautifully with the anti-hero concept, and we decided to apply this to sports to discover the shades of gray that exist between the two extremes.
The slick dialogues, the vicious double entendres, the dark imagery is something we wish to carry over too.
All right, we get it. But then every one who read Shakespeare would be a bard. Who are you, and why should we waste our precious time listening to your stuff?
First of all, apologies for taking away that precious bit of time where you could have updated your status 23 times. Just to clarify, we are just a bunch of sports fanatics from around the world out to have some fun, and make some fun. (Aside: I don’t know if there is a measure for the fanaticism, but every time I am asked that stock interview question – “What is your weakness and how do you plan to counter it?”, I answer – “Rising short pitch delivery, though am working on it with frequent short ball sessions”. To tell you the truth, I sometimes mention about my faltering backhand too.)
And this is not a formal environment where you have to judge us against preset parameters. This is your show, as much as ours. Listen, enjoy, suggest – be a part of it! We know you secretly always wanted to do something like this. Here’s you chance!
But how is this going to be different from any other Sports News show out there?
We haven’t listed so many inspirations for nothing! The ingredients for cooking up and serving the sports stories are the same: sports news, opinions, interviews. We just cook them up a different way with a host of strong spices (satire, sarcasm, dark humor, wit) and serve it with a pinch of salt.
Sounds like fun! What if I have a question that has not been answered here?

Comments and suggestions are also welcome. We all can agree that rants in protestation of favorite team/player being mocked do not make for interesting reading.
